Fast and Furious whisteblowers suffer DOJ retaliation: where is Congress?

Written By: Bob - Nov• 30•11

William Lajeunesse of Fox News has a horrible story of how the honest and honorable field agents of the ATF that blew the whistle on Operation Fast and Furious are being abused by the ATF and Department of Justice, in yet another criminal violation of the law that can be laid at the feet of ATF supervisors and managers,  Attorney General Eric Holder, and arguably President Barack Obama, who allows this culture of corruption to thrive.

Six months ago, several agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives stood before Congress to testify about the details of a U.S. government program that armed Mexico’s largest drug cartel with thousands of assault rifles.

The administration denied it at the time and questioned the agents’ integrity. The men were nervous and scared. They said they feared for their careers, their reputation and their families.

“Any attempt to retaliate against them for their testimony today would be unfair, unwise and unlawful,” Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, warned the Department of Justice.

He and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., began an investigation to determine who authorized “Operation Fast and Furious” and aimed to hold accountable those responsible for a plan that helped known criminals run guns across the border in violation of U.S. and international law.

And while President Obama has said the operation was a mistake and that “people who screwed up will be held accountable,” the record so far does not bear that out. Those in charge of the botched operation have been reassigned or promoted, their pensions intact. But many of those who blew the whistle face isolation, retaliation and transfer.

The message from this Attorney General and President are very clear.

Law enforcement is not the primary job of federal agents. Toeing the party line, and catering to the needs of their political bosses even when that means breaking federal laws, is the only way to avoid being penalized, ostracized, and made an example of.

Good men have risked their careers, their marriages and their lives in order to stop this government’s plot to ship thousands of weapons to drug cartels. The Obama Administration has sat quietly by as his minions savaged these men, and instead promoted their abusers.

It’s a damn shame the mainstream media is willfully blind to the monsters they’ve elected and appointed, and it is a mark of their partisan cowardice that they will not cry, “Enough!”

Republicans are no blameless in this, either.

The same Congressmen and Presidential candidates that have come forth to call for Eric Holder’s firing for his criminal abuses of his office must step forward to shield the honorable men who have stepped forward to stop this criminal conspiracy.

If we can no longer trust our lawmakers or law enforcers to be trusted to do what is just and right, then Obama’s thug culture in Washington, DC has won, and we are no longer a nation of laws, but a nation of bullies.

What those fools haven’t figured out is that pretty much everybody knows how to take care of thugs/bullies…

Do you get the feeling Obama is doing the best he can to lose the 2012 election?
