Three Perdue campaign staffers charged

Written By: Bob - Nov• 29•11

This North Carolina governor is just as crooked as the last one.

Three people connected to Gov. Beverly Perdue’s campaign were indicted Monday on charges stemming from an investigation into her campaign finances.

Trawick Hamilton “Buzzy” Stubbs, Julia Leigh Sitton and Peter Anthony Reichard are charged with obstruction of justice, and Stubbs and Sitton are also charged with certifying false campaign finance reports.

The State Board of Elections fined Perdue’s campaign $30,000 last year for not reporting dozens of campaign flights aboard donors’ planes during the 2004 and 2008 elections until late 2009.

Whether or not they’ll go after Perdue herself seems up in the air. The previous Democrat Gov. Mike Easley, was convicted of similar charges. Chicago Democrats may be better known, but I’d argue that North Carolina Democrats are every bit as corrupt, if not more so.

When asked for comment, ol Bev said: “I think we ought to suspend, perhaps, campaign finance law for governors for two years and just tell and just tell the people, whatever decisions we make, to just let us help this country recover. I really hope that someone can agree with me on that.”

It’s like a bizarre career path, run for Governor, get elected, indited and convicted.
