The saddest truth in politics is that people get the leaders they deserve

Yes, Democrats are communists

Written By: Bob - Jan• 19•12

Astute political junkies on either side of the aisle have long known that the Democratic Party has shuffling towards socialism and communism since the end of the Second World War (“moderate” democrats towards socialism, “progressives” toward communism). The simple fact of the matter is that Democrats are fine with the philosophies, and just hate being branded with the labels, as the citizenry still have access to history books and can easily verify that both socialism and communism end in poverty and/or war roughly 100% of the time.

None of that matters to the would-be controllers, who have just recently decided to go along with President Obama’s “you’ve made enough money” philosophy and proposed an Orwellian Reasonable Profits Board:

ix House Democrats, led by Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), want to set up a “Reasonable Profits Board” to control gas profits.

The Democrats, worried about higher gas prices, want to set up a board that would apply a “windfall profit tax” as high as 100 percent on the sale of oil and gas, according to their legislation. The bill provides no specific guidance for how the board would determine what constitutes a reasonable profit.

The Gas Price Spike Act, H.R. 3784, would apply a windfall tax on the sale of oil and gas that ranges from 50 percent to 100 percent on all surplus earnings exceeding “a reasonable profit.” It would set up a Reasonable Profits Board made up of three presidential nominees that will serve three-year terms. Unlike other bills setting up advisory boards, the Reasonable Profits Board would not be made up of any nominees from Congress.

A commenter at Hot Air summed up the absurdity offered by this den of thieves.

Average state tax per gallon 48% +
Fed tax per gallon 18% +
Oil company profit per gallon 8% tops

Who are the looters again?

In other news, gun sales of civilian tactical weapons,  combat-grade optics, compatible ammunition, body armor and disaster prepareness items are believed to be at all all-time high. We’re headed for hard times, and the people can sense it.  Unfortunately for the would-be elites, I suspect  quite a few folks are more prone to going guerrilla than Galt.

Sounds a lot like a version of Directive 10-289.

And when I read “Atlas Shrugged” back in the late 1980s, I thought I could understand how someone in the 1950s could have written it, but that the Reagan Revolution and the collapse of Soviet power (they had not yet imploded, but were heading that direction) made the whole thing an increasingly improbable forecast of the future.

    Foolish me.

They want to control high gas profits, but not high gas prices (remember Dear Reader’s wish for $10/gal gas). So, where would the additional money go?

    Oh…never mind.
