While utterly ignoring the deadliest crime in American history, the FBI has focused instead on a group of nutters that are primarily political threats.
Since 2000, members of the movement have killed six police officers, and clashes with law enforcement are on the rise, according to the FBI. The deadliest incident came in 2010, when a shootout with a member left four people dead, including two police officers, during what began as a routine traffic stop in West Memphis, Ark.
Since then, in a notable shift in policy, federal officials have stepped up their attention on sovereign citizens.
“We are focusing our efforts because of the threat of violence,” said Stuart R. McArthur, a deputy assistant director in the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division.
In two recent unpublished studies, the Homeland Security Department and the National Counterterrorism Center ranked the sovereign citizen movement as a major threat, along with Islamic extremists and white supremacists. The FBI assigned a supervisor to coordinate investigations of the movement last year.
The “sovereign citizens” have killed 6 police officers in 12 years, or one every two years. While every officer death is a tragedy for the family and friends left behind, a death every two years does not seem to indicate that the oddball movement should be regarded as a national threat, or even close to being the threat to officer’s safety that a steady diet of fast food and stress.
The Obama Department of Justice itself is a far greater threat to both police officers and everyday civilians, with the thousands of weapons provided to Mexican drug cartels being responsible for the deaths of 300+ known Mexican nationals, 2 U.S. federal law enforcement agents that we know of, and an unknown number of deaths committed with DOJ “walked” guns of law enforcement officers and citizens in this country that the Obama Administration has been able to conceal from the American people.
Which is a greater threat to our national security, 6 dead attributed to the “sovereign citizens” in more than a decade, or more than 302 dead (that we know about) from the Obama Administration’s attempt to frame American small businesses for the deaths of hundreds of innocents in a blatant attempt to undermine the Constitution?
