Things just keep getting worse for the gun-runners of the Obama administration, as the gun-walking plot has triggered another Congressional investigation.
Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) formally requested that the Department of Homeland Security conduct an internal investigation into the department’s role in Operation Fast & Furious, the botched gun running operation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms which put guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels.
In a letter to the DHS Inspector General, who confirmed he would conduct the inquiry, Congressman McCaul requested the following:
- To what extent were DHS and its components involved in planning Operation Fast and Furious?
- To what extent were DHS and its components involved in the decision-making process implementing Operation Fast and Furious?
- What DHS policies, processes, and procedures exist for conducting arms smuggling investigations? To what extent did Operation Fast and Furious adhere to DHS’s policies, processes, and procedures?
