Homeland Security IG asked to investigate DHS role in Fast and Furious

Written By: Bob - Feb• 25•12

Things just keep getting worse for the gun-runners of the Obama administration, as the gun-walking plot has triggered another Congressional investigation.

Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX) formally requested that the Department of Homeland Security conduct an internal investigation into the department’s role in Operation Fast & Furious, the botched gun running operation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms which put guns in the hands of Mexican drug cartels.

In a letter  to the DHS Inspector General, who confirmed he would conduct the inquiry, Congressman McCaul requested the following:

  1. To what extent were DHS and its components involved in planning Operation Fast and Furious?
  2. To what extent were DHS and its components involved in the decision-making process implementing Operation Fast and Furious?
  3. What DHS policies, processes, and procedures exist for conducting arms smuggling investigations?  To what extent did Operation Fast and Furious adhere to DHS’s policies, processes, and procedures?

“The Obama Cabinet official did not rule out the possibility that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms misled her department about the intent of Fast and Furious.

“I hope they did not,” Napolitano said in response to a question by McCaul.”

The unterbuss toss has already begun.
