It didn’t take very long at all for gun-grabbing Democratic Senators to try to sneak an attack on the Second Amendment into an entirely unrelated bill.
Shortly after the Cybersecurity Act gained Senate approval to proceed to filing proposed amendments and a vote next week, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), a sponsor of the gun control amendment, came to the floor to defend the idea of implementing some “reasonable” gun control measures.
S.A. 2575 would make it illegal to transfer or possess large capacity feeding devices such as gun magazines, belts, feed stripes[sic] and drums of more than 10 rounds of ammunition with the exception of .22 caliber rim fire ammunition. The amendment is identical to a separate bill sponsored by Lautenberg. Feinstein was the sponsor of the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004.
The correct term for the majority of magazines that Shumer and his fellow radicals are trying to ban is “normal capacity,” as most modern centerfire firearms designed to use magazines have magazines in excess of ten rounds, including almost all service-size pistols and rifles suitable for modern “militia use” as the Founders would have recognized.
Magazine restrictions have no effect on crime, as the massacre at Columbine High School graphically demonstrated during the time the 1994 ban was in effect, committed primarily with a firearm that used “ban legal” ten round magazines.
This sort of under-handed, “under the radar” attempt at gun control is precisely the reason that Democrats must lose control of the Senate and White House in November.
They simply cannot be trusted with your rights.
