If you’ve been paying attention to U.S. political news lately, you may have heard that a political action committee (PAC) founded by former special operations forces has hit President Barack Obama hard about exploiting their dangerous work and risking national security to steal the credit, glory, and honor for their work.
Josh Rogin of Foreign Policy blog “The Cable” is apparently outraged by that hit against the President, and hopes you weren’t paying too much attention to the specific name of the group that has put together a damning video.
The group that posted the video is Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund.
Rogin seems intent on discrediting the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund by confusing it with a lesser known group with a controversial “Birther” leader.
President Barack Obama is a socialist, was raised by communists, and wasn’t born in the United States, according to the former Navy SEAL who founded the group Special Operations Speaks(SOS), which aims to portray Obama as anti-military in this election season.
Earlier this week, a different group of former Navy SEALS calling themselves the Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund rolled out its campaign to criticize Obama for leaking national security information and taking what it believes as undue credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden. That group claims to be non-political.
But the founder of SOS, a similar group with the same mission and the same tactics, says he has no problem admitting that he is against Obama’s politics, personality, and believes that America’s current president is lying about his origins.
“I have to admit that I’m a Birther,” said SOS founder Larry Bailey, a retired 27-year veteran of the Navy SEALs, in an interview. “If there were a jury of 12 good men and women and the evidence were placed before them, there would be absolutely no question Barack Obama was not born where he said he was and is not who he says he is.”
The intent is obvious: to conflate the two organizations together as part of a fringe group of extremists, thereby delegitimizing the effective Special Operations OPSEC Education Fund.
It’s a bait-and-switch smear, a disgusting in-kind political donation to the Obama campaign. Democrats and the MSM can’t seem to help from abusing the men who put their lives on the line for us, one slight, smear, or attack at the time.
