Ms. Crowley, what went wrong in your head?
Oh, Ms. Crowley, did you talk with the dead?
Your life style to me seemed so tragic
With the thrill of it all
You fooled all the people with magic
You waited on Satan’s call
–Ozzy Osbourne (sorta) from Mr. Crowley
There is a lot that can be said about how CNN political reporter Candy Crowley moderated the second 2012 Presidential debate last night, and none of it is good.
One could criticize Crowley’s very selection as a moderator considering her pungent bias against the Romney/Ryan campaign, but I think most of us held out hope that she could put professionalism in front of political ideology for 90 minutes. We should have known that was impossible.
From her pathetic vetting of “undecided voters” and their questions—no reasonably qualified moderator would have allowed a question of “why aren’t you Candidate X”— as the format of the question wasn’t a question, but an indictment as purposefully dishonest as, “Have you stopped beating your wife, yes or no?”
Crowley allowed “undecided” Susan Katz to ask governor Romney, “What’s the biggest difference between you and George W. Bush?”
Can you imagine the liberal outrage if the question had been the far more pertinent, “Mr. Obama, What’s the biggest difference between you and Jimmy Carter?”
What Crowley will most be remembered for, however, is interjecting herself into the debate as Mitt Romney had Barack Obama on the defensive about his Administration’s lying to the American people about the Benghazi terror attack. Crowley jumped in to defend Obama and was factually wrong when she did so.
That in and of itself should earn her a lifetime ban on moderating anything more important than a dog show, but that isn’t half the story. Sure she could have been an idiot, and out of line. People make mistakes. But this wasn’t a mistake.
Crowley herself made the same argument Romney did on September 30, calling out David Alexrod for the exact same lie, the same lie that she then injected into last night’s debate.
This wasn’t a case of bias, or a mistake, it was Candy Crowley going out of her way to make what she knew to be a blatant lie in order to save her God-King from the moment of his destruction.
By so doing, she attempted to change the course of a election, perhaps saving Obama from being routed for the second debate in a row, and with it, ending his presidency.
Someone place a call to Anton. We have a career that deserves a swift and bloody end.
