For as long as I can remember, I’ve heard that warning that if you go through the effort to make something idiot-proof, nature will rise to the challenge and create a greater idiot.
An unnamed Washington state man has reached the reached for mediocrity, and grabbed it with both bloody, stupid hands:
A Thurston County man told deputies he accidentally shot himself in the head with his .22-caliber rifle Sunday while he was “fishing” for salmon on the Deschutes River, a sheriff’s report says.
The man said he fired into the river about 4:50 p.m. near the 9600 block of Old Highway 99, the report states. But the bullet ricocheted off a rock and struck him in the temple.
“He said he scratched the injury with his finger and the bullet fell out of his head in the river,” the report states.
The man’s girlfriend says shooting at fish in the rock-strewn river is a regular occurrence. This strongly suggests that she is also an idiot.
