Feinstein’s new “assault weapons” ban means to rip the guts from the Second Amendment

Written By: Bob - Dec• 20•12

I’d heard that California gun-grabber Dianne Feinstein was going to attempt to use the tiny caskets of the victims of the Newtown school shooting to reintroduce a revised “assault weapons” ban for more stringent than the original bill that was in effect from 1994-2004. That law that failed so spectacularly that it has the effect of mainstreaming the firearms it was attempting to ban, and created the conditions that inspired both the creation of  the class of sub-compact semi-automatic pistols and the ever-widening expansion of concealed carry laws.

Feinstein’s proposed revision has not been released in it’s entirety, but the summary tells us much of the gun control agenda she will attempt to force upon American citizens.

  • Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of more than 100 specifically-named firearms as well as certain semiautomatic rifles, handguns and shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds.
  • Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips and drums) capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • exempting more than 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting and sporting purposes; and
    • exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.

The would-be tyrant’s intent appears to be a fatal blow to the essential core of the Second Amendment, removing from the public those firearms of contemporary military utility that the Founders clearly wanted in the hands of citizens to defend against enemies both foreign, and domestic.

Here’s the breakdown point-by-point.

The intention is clear: to ban most, if not all, semi-automatic firearms in the United States. The vast majority of self-loading rifles use detachable magazines, from the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22 rimfire to America’s favorite AR-15, to “deer rifles” like the Browning BAR and Remington 742. The law would apparently ban ALL semi-automatic pistols as well. It is a direct assault on the explicit intention of the Second Amendment as written by the Founding Fathers.

  • Stops the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of large-capacity ammunition feeding devices (magazines, strips and drums) capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.

Building upon the fascist tendency banning the most common rifles and pistols in America and virtually every firearm of possible contemporary military utility, Feinstein would criminalize any American who attempted to sell, transfer, import or manufacture the magazines used by these firearms, presumably including those who attempt to repair their existing magazines.

  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment;
    • exempting more than 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting and sporting purposes; and
    • exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons.

Tripe. Platitudes. An arrogant declaration from on-high that these few remaining arms pose no threat to those who encroach more upon liberty with every passing day.

The scope of the bill represented by this summary is stunning, and represents an attempt to criminalize the majority of 300 million firearms owned by American citizens.

The reaction against this bill must be swift and overwhelming. It represents a sweeping attempt at gun control that would turn citizens into criminals, no more than slaves that exist at the government’s pleasure. This goes far beyond the attempt of Thomas Gage’s British redcoats to seize powder, shot, and cannon, and that debacle on April 19,1775 was the direct cause of the American Revolutionary War.

Evil men and women are attempting to exploit tragedy to press a free people into slavery under the heal of the boot of government. They are attempting to usurp the “People’s teeth.” They are treading perilously close to a red line that would trigger a second American Revolutionary War, a conflict no one would win, which could potentially make the brutal casualties of the Civil War look like a skinned knee in comparison.

I pray for saner heads to prevail. If this becomes law, there will be war.

We are headed to a war anyway. Might as well get it over with.

  3. Let\’s think carefully about that word \”war.\” Lets not use it lightly. If you really mean killing people, fine. That\’s the right word. Are you willing to kill to keep your gun(s)? That\’s what it may come to. You\’d better make up your mind now if that\’s what you really mean. Should push come to shove, there won\’t be time for dithering. And I\’m using the word \”you\” in the plural, not necessarily referring only to david. Decide now, and be ready to act should it come to that.

Keeping in mind the experience of 1994, should those idiots in Washington D.C. have the stupidity to impose a California style AW ban on the whole nation, the proper reaction is to vote the bastards out of office, choke off any funds for enforcement of the ban, then with a more compliant President in office after the election of 2016, have the ban repealed in 2017.

If on the other hand the lunatics go even farther and try to take weapons from Americans by force, well…

Before it gets that far, before any bill is even voted on we must make certain all our elected representatives know our opposition. And that regardless of what our representatives believe, to let them know that we consider the Feinstein ban a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

We need our own pithy soundbites and slogans to battle the enemy buzzwords. I have a couple of suggestions.

We should call firearms that are neutered under the Feinstein ban, \”Feinstein Specials\”. And point out it was a Feinstein Special that was the main murder weapon at the Columbine high-school massacre of 1999. (the Hi-point 9mm carbine with 10 round magazines) This demonstrates the futility of the Feinstein ban.

We should adapt as our symbol the Winchester Model 1905 Self-Loading-Rifle, because it represents the first significant use by the American public of a semi-automatic centerfire rifle with a detachable magazine. The heritage of the Winchester 1905 SLR flows through the U.S. M-1 carbine and into the AR-15 semi-auto used today. Using such an elderly weapon as our symbol demonstrates in a visceral way just how old the technology is that Feinstein is trying to ban, and therefore how extremist the Feinstein ban actually is.

    Bob or another reader,
Can you clarify, to the best of your knowledge about this proposed bill or other similar bills that have been enacted, does a \”transfer\” include inheritance? If Dad owned these weapons and left to son, what would son have to do? Has this ever come up in a law with a \”grandfather\” clause?

  8. Carl B says:

If transfer of \”grandfathered\” weapons by inheritance is prohibited, then we are talking about disarming America in 1 generation.

  9. Feinstein, Schumer, Obama, Holder, Bloomberg, and their whole gang are tyrant wannabes. To them, anyone who does, or might, oppose their control over every aspect of our lives, is “a criminal” because they said so.

To quote a few of their heroes, with explanatory comments in ( ):

“Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.” – Mao
(They revere Mao and the way he ruthlessly grabbed power in China. The fact that he murdered about 100 million Chinese to do it is, to them, a “feature,” not a “bug.”)

“If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves. … The only real power comes out of a long rifle. … Everyone imposes his own system as far as his army can reach. … We don’t let them have ideas. Why would we let them have guns? … The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic.” — Joseph Stalin

“The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed the subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty.” — Adolf Hitler
(These psychopathic sociopaths in our government – and THEY ARE PRECISELY THAT, never make the mistake of doubting it – believe that they are anointed to be our rulers and that we are the equivalent of Hitler’s “subject races.”)

THOSE are the reasons why, and the sort of people who want to, disarm us.

These same people through DHS and other alphabet agencies have recently purchased over 1.5 BILLION rounds of ammo – enough to shoot every man, woman, and child in the country 3-4 times – ammo that’s illegal for military use under international law. Considering that you and I and all of the other US taxpayers are paying for all of this ammo, it’s frighteningly reminiscent of the story of political prisoners’ families being forced to pay for the bullets used to execute them … isn’t it?

If we allow these leftist control freaks to ignore and ultimately gut the 2nd Amendment, history will inevitably repeat itself. These “gun control” proposals have NOTHING to do with preventing crime, but EVERYTHING to do with CONTROL.

Hitler disarmed the Jews and others, then murdered about 15 million.
Stalin disarmed the Russians, them murdered about 40 million.
Mao disarmed the Chinese peasants, then murdered nearly 100 million.
The Turks disarmed the Armenians, then murdered 1.5-2 million.
Pol Pot disarmed the Cambodians and murdered millions.
Rwanda disarmed its ethnic groups, then murdered millions.
The list goes on … over 170 million people murdered BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENTS in the 20th century – AFTER they allowed those governments disarmed them.

They ALL thought “It can’t happen here” – until they were disarmed and it started, then it was too late. Don’t make the same mistake. Don’t EVER let your government disarm you.

The Founders knew that government, if not constrained at every step, will continue to accumulate power and control until it becomes tyranny. That’s why they feared standing armies and insisted that the “right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

“Never forget, even for an instant, that the one and only reason anybody has for taking your gun away is to make you weaker than he is, so he can do something to you that you wouldn’t let him do if you were equipped to prevent it. This goes for burglars, muggers, and rapists, and even more so for policemen, bureaucrats, and politicians.” – Aaron Zelmanm
