Illinois about to default to constitutional carry?

Written By: Bob - Feb• 11•13

Oh, wouldn’t that it be rich if this comes to pass? Illinois Republicans are forcing Illinois Democrats to consider “shall issue” concealed carry legislation without exemptions for Cook County or Chicago. If Democrats don’t compromise by June 10, they lose everything, and the citizens of Illinois will be able to carry any gun, any time, anywhere.

In December, a federal appeals court struck down Illinois’ law that stops people from carrying a weapon.

And Todd Vandermyde, a lobbyist for the Illinois State Rifle Association, said that ruling closed the door on many of the “negotiations” that surrounded concealed carry legislation in the past.

“There are certain things that are not negotiable in the process,” Vandermyde said last week at a public hearing.

Concealed carry “will be a ‘shall issue’ permit, there will be no discretion by some bureaucrat as to whether you get to exercise your right,” he said.

“It will be a statewide permit, there will be no carve-out for Chicago. There will be no carve-out for Cook County,” Vandermyde said.

State Rep. Brandon Phelps, D-Harrisburg, who has authored several concealed-carry laws during his time in Springfield, said the federal court ruling goes even further.

“The clock is still ticking. June 10 is the deadline,” Phelps said. “We filed a bill, a lot of people didn’t think we were going to because we don’t have to. Constitutional carry will set-in if we don’t do something.”

I’m not expecting the murder rate to drop on June 10 no matter what happens, because the real problem in Chicago isn’t guns, but crushing poverty and a destroyed economy that is the result of Democratic party rule:

Fifty-six children — under the age of 18 — met violent ends last year in Chicago, while 133 individuals — nearly one-third of all the murdered victims — never saw their 21st birthdays. Still, the city and the state don’t want to talk about the nightmare that Chicago’s African-American and Hispanic neighborhoods have become. Nobody is asking how the disastrous economy of Illinois is contributing to violence on the streets of Chicago.

Illinois has an unfunded pension deficit of $200 billion. It now lays claim to the worst credit rating in the nation. Single-party rule — controlled by public-employee unions — has created a business climate that is benefiting neighboring states. The black unemployment rate average in 2012, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, was 24.2 percent. That is not a typo — the unemployment rate in Chicago’s black community is almost 1 in 4. The overwhelming majority of the murders take place in minority neighborhoods, which implies this is not a gun control issue — “it’s the economy, stupid.”

In Illinois, nobody is talking about the “kick the can down the road” mentality that is killing our children — literally. Elected officials for over a decade have seen their policies fail time after time. They continue down the same path, knowing full well their policies do more economic harm than good. They are more concerned with power than people. The results are higher taxes, fleeing businesses and no jobs. Minority communities get hit the hardest.

Democrats are responsible for turning Detroit into a ghost town, Chicago into a killing field, and both Illinois and California into states with policies that drive away business on their way to bankruptcy. Gun control is now and has always been part of a broader “people control” agenda. Until it is destroyed and liberty is restored, expect every part of America to continue to decline.

I’m hoping this happens. And when it does I want every gun owner in the area to meet me downtown to open carry. While I’m not a huge fan of open carry it it would be a lovely thing to stroll down Michigan Avenue with hundreds of fellow patriots with rifles and pistols on display. Not only would be a great chance to educate the populace on guns but it would be a great opportunity to rub our liberty in the face of the Chicago machine.

Gun owners bear arms at state Capitol rally….

Maybe a rally like this would look good in front of Rahm’s house!

I know this is off topic , sort of . But did you notice that some Police Departments are changing their names from Police Departments to Police Forces. I went to my City Hall to complain only to be told all public statements must be made in under two minutes from the normal five minutes from now on . So as not to disturb the “flow” of the meeting.

    More from Colorado:

“As CO Democrats push to allow victims of gun violence to sue gun makers over crime, Republican legislators in the state need to answer in kind and put forth legislation making it easier for those who are attacked, molested, or shot in “gun free zones” to sue for damages as well…..

    Be proud Texas!

While other members of Congress are hosting gun-control advocates for Tuesday’s State of the Union address, Rep. Steve Stockman has given one of his visitor’s gallery tickets to Ted Nugent, the conservative gun-rights supporter.

“I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama,” Mr. Stockman said in a statement announcing the choice. “After the address I’m sure Ted will have plenty to say.”

“I spoke with a high-ranking, military source in DHS. Preferring to remain unnamed for obvious reasons, he told me, “DHS and DOD are conducting desensitizing exercises all across the U.S.,” he paused, then added, “we’re being prepared for mass civil unrest in major U.S. cities. DOD will be expected to help – when we’re requested.”

I asked if there was a timeline for expecting civil unrest in our cities and why should we expect it to begin with. I was told that there were many reasons, but that the continued devaluation of our currency, the predicted history-setting prices for gasoline this summer and the continued gun control debate are forming a perfect storm of civil discontent. When this storm hits, it will most assuredly produce mass casualties. When does DHS expect this to happen? This summer.”

    And the lies continue;

“As President Barack Obama prepares to deliver his State of the Union address, NBC News has launched “Flashpoint: Guns in America” — a weeklong examination of gun violence, gun ownership and gun legislation.

NBC News journalists will report on guns on “NBC Nightly News,” “TODAY,” MSNBC, CNBC,, and more. The conversation will continue on social media platforms using the hashtag #GunsInUSA….

Nation wide open carry is the answer to demythifying hoplophobia. Think about the effect of millions and millions on Main Street USA openly carrying arms in a peaceful, vigilant manner. After a few years even liberal soccer moms will be openly bearing arms.

I have been told by a friend (even got a photo of a pallet of ammo being delivered) that the local VA hospital has recently received over 150k in 9mm.

Methinks it is always good to know who might have extra ammo, don’t ya know!

Sorry, there is simply no chance Illinois will revert to constitutional carry. None.
Emanuel and Boss Madigan won’t let it happen.
Currently, their ploy is court rehearings and other such judicial maneuvers.
The next step will be some brutal legislative machinations that will make Wisconsin’s Doyle’s stopping of citizen carry seem like a friendly Twister game by comparison.
Ain’t gonna happen. Hope my Chicago accent shows through.
