The saddest truth in politics is that people get the leaders they deserve

Joe Huffman crunches the numbers, and it doesn’t look promising for the would-be tyrants:

Any idea how many members of Al Qaeda the U.S. military are fighting in Afghanistan and Pakistan? According to intelligence estimates reported by the New York Times in 2010 the answer is “fewer than 500″ in Afghanistan and “more than 300″ in Pakistan. A 2011 article in the Wall Street Journal put the number in the range of 200 to 1000 with “affiliated fighters or funders” making up thousands or tens of thousands.

How’s that war turning out for the U.S. military? Are they going to wrap that up and come home in the next couple of weeks?

Any idea on the resources Al Qaeda can bring to bear compared the resources several million U.S. gun owners can bring to the fight? I’ll give you just a few clues.

Private citizens typically consumed 10 to 12 billion rounds of ammunition per year. But current domestic production (including that used by the military and law enforcement) is about 1 billion rounds per week and it is being purchased so rapidly it is difficult to find any on the shelves. I know individuals that have nearly 1 million rounds of loaded ammunition and/or components in their possession…

…It is my contention that gun sales above the mean of that during the Bush years represent committed gun owners who didn’t buy the gun just to have it registered and/or taken away a few months or years later. The mean number of NICS checks during the Bush years is a little less than 9 million per year. Hence one may reasonably conclude there have been a minimum of 10 million gun sales made “in preparation for war” during 2012 alone.

That’s a lot of boots, guns, and ammo on the ground on our side. And I didn’t even get into the training our side has. Compare that to the resources the anti-gun people can bring to bear. Yet it appears President Obama may be deliberately trying to start a civil war.

So tell me. Which side is crazy to believe they will come out on top of a violent conflict?

A few tens of thousands of dedicated revolutionaries with a supporting cast of hundreds of thousands or millions of supporters could topple any democracy, including our own. I don’t think those those boldly threatening to undercut the Constitution grasp how precarious their situation has become.

I pray for peace.

Tread carefully.

And people marginalize the capabilities of the old men and women who appear harmless. They are far more dangerous the the hotheaded 20-somethings.

But you already know this, I’m sure you’ve told the story of Dangerous Old Men many times. How many would have to follow the example of Samuel Wittemore for the public to erupt in outrage at the grandfathers being killed?

    The Dali-Bama’s endgame is depopulation.

    Must remove the “worthless_eaters”

In the end he’ll hand the sovereignty over to the UN

    Agenda 21 playbook

    I predict PAIN

Just who is going to win this thing ?

When they were young they were chasing college coeds.
When we were young we were chasing Viet Cong.

They train at 25 to 100 feet.
We train at 250 to 1000 yards.

They can muster 1 million men.
We can muster 10 times that.

They are lead from the top down.
We are lead from the bottom up.

Homeland Security calls them First Responders.
Homeland Security calls us Domestic Terrorists.

They are young and have their whole lives ahead of them.
We are tired and old and don’t give a shit.

They wear bright crisp uniforms with alphabet soup on them.
We wear washed out cammies, you will hear but never see us.

They are fighting for the New Amerika.
We are fighting for the Old America.

Pray for peace…OK…but prepare for war…

Some say we can’t fight a modern military force…the ‘ragtag’ Afghans have done it successfully…several times…over several centuries…

I remember reading in the 1980s, how Afghans wacked Russians with 100-year-old bolt action rifles. The Russians couldn’t stay inside their T-72s and T-80s forever. When they emerged, Afghans with rifles were waiting…

The technology appears to be formidable, and it is, but the watchful and patient know to wait for inevitable vulnerabilities to make their appearance and to strike then…

“President Obama may be deliberately trying to start a civil war”

That appears so, and the gun thing, is only one of at least several indications…

I think Obama is beyond crazy…the ever-growing pile of…evidence…appears to me to indicate evil…brutal, unmerciful, cunning evil. Such will triumph if the good remain wedded to comfort, materialism, and entertainment…

I don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh much, but-I think it was yesterday-he made a good point. There was one of those ‘conversations’ happening. About health care. People were actually sort of asking the ‘president’ for permission to administer health care for their aged loved ones… Rush was correct in observing that this was “obscene”…yes…and evil too…

  5. Gayle says:

Just look at the chaos that ONE man – the lefty kook cop in LA – is managing to wreak. ONE man.

That alone should open people’s eyes.

  6. LFMayor says:

Peace. Neville Chamberlin opted for the peace at all costs too. That worked out well.
Personally, I want this to come to a head. So the boil, the infection of leftists can finally be expressed and sanitized from our nation.
I want this to come to a head sooner than later. While I’m still young enough to do something about it. Before I have to hand it off to my kids, hang my head and mouth inadequate platitudes and excuses.
I want to pay now, because all waiting is going to do is stack the pain and the cost even higher.

I’m glad I am not alone in knowing it must come to a head and vigilantly praying that if it must be so, that it comes when I am (somewhat) young enough to handle what is already heading our way.

In a conversation recently with a group of folks and it seems the majority just do not believe that anything like a civil war, a revolution or even an economic collapse can happen here in the US.

  7. Chuck says:

My favorite story from the Afghan resistance to the Soviets:

A father and son team of goat herders set up a scheme to trap the trail tank in a Soviet tank unit on a narrow mountain road on a blind curve. They basically managed to block the tank front and rear so it couldn’t move. The crew, realizing they were trapped, buttoned up. The Afghans piled brush on top of the tank then lit it on fire. They waited for the crew to bail out and shot them down as they emerged from the burning tank. Eventually the external fuel tanks ignited and the tank burned until the on board ammo cooked off and left a burned out hulk and dead tank crew.

Folks, it doesn’t matter how heavily armed you are, it matters how determined you are.

  8. Comrade X says:

John Mosby was said to have occupied with his 700 or so man 50,000 union troops and the IRA with 700 took on 100,000 brits, or we can all look back to the the Greek 300, examples like this go on & on thru out history. People fighting for their homes, families, land, and way of life seem to have one thing that is superior to those who would take it away, heart because there is no where else to go but die!

So let’s do the math, if there were to be about 500 (a low number in my book) or so patriots in each county of the US on average and we have 3,141 counties and county equivalents in the 50 States, how many Fascist’s will it take to suppress that number, well some will say that the Fascist will have the better technology, but my answer to that is; For how long?

    Death before slavery!

  9. Whitehall says:

Just who will be the trigger pullers on the tyrant’s side?

Identify them, reach out and ask them why they would kill fellow citizens.

  10. Ted Moore says:

History does not seem to record who the quote came from. While deciding who would be where at Bunker hill and Breeds hill Someone said “Its going to be a long war. The ability to march will be as important to victory as the ability to shoot.” So the old, the lame and the bald took the position of honor at Breeds Hill. There is almost no limit to what can be accomplished is the goal is more important than worrying about who gets the credit, or did we live to see victory.
