The saddest truth in politics is that people get the leaders they deserve

Despite apple flavor, Media Matters insists red, non-citrus fruit is actually an orange

Media Matters is flipping out over a Gannett article the accurately records the fact that the NY SAFE Act renders guns inoperable, because the law requires magazines that don’t exist.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with them, Media Matters is a left wing propaganda organization, and pointing out that the NY SAFE Act is insane, impractical, and unconstitutional really puts a damper on the hopes of their preferred 2016 Democratic Presidential candidate, NY Governor Andrew Cuomo.

So what does Media Matters do to try to rebut an obvious truth? They try to confuse the dullards among their followers by insisting that an apple is an orange:

A search on firearms accessories supplier Brownells’ website reveals 51 options for purchasing magazines with a 5, 6 or 7 round capacity. Magazines for popular firearms brands offered by Brownells include Springfield, Glock, Colt, Smith & Wesson, Beretta, Ruger, and Sig Sauer. In fact, the seven-round magazine is the third most popular configuration offered by Brownells, with only eight- and 10-round magazines offering more options.

It’s a sad stunt, attempting to capitalize on the fact that Media Matters knows their readers are likely too dim to realize that there isn’t one generic one-size-fits-all generic pistol magazine. Indeed, the overwhelming majority of magazines listed are for one gun, the 102-year-old John Browning-designed 1911. Of those that remain, all are for pistols that use single-column magazines, which make up a distinct minority of pistols on the market.

In other words, while there is a single-column .45 ACP magazine for the Glock 36, there are no single-column magazine that will fit models 19, 18, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 37, 38, or 39, which are designed to use double-column magazines. We can create a similar list for every manufacturer.

Gannett is perfectly correct. A large majority of pistols, including all of those that use a double-column magazine, are not available with seven-round magazines. They do not exist. NY SAFE is a disaster for law abiding gun owners who can no longer get magazines for their legally-owned pistols.

Media Matters shill Timothy Johnson is deceiving his readers, and worse, he counted upon their ignorance when he set out to lie to them.

It’s atrocious to treat your readers with such obvious contempt, but since they keep coming back to Media Matters for more, can you really blame them?

    Media Matters? Supporting gun laws? When did they start that?

    Last I heard, their chief had a body guard who carried a pistol — illegally — in DC. Perhaps someone should search him and his entourage again, just to make sure they’re not doing it again.

    so a Desert Eagle in .50AE is legal but a Sig 22 conversion is too powerful and dangerous with 10 rounds…

    Off topic but important: sent me an email stating…

    “We will continue to do business with state agencies in states where anti-gun laws are passed. We will understand if you intend to boycott us”.

    They are getting their wish.

    I am asking everyone to encourage all to NOT DO BUSINESS with any company like Manventure that continues to service those states. In the past several weeks I have made purchases of accessories but prior to purchase, I establish they will not do business with anti-gun states.

    Let’s get the word out and a grass roots effort rolling. If anyone has a list of businesses to boycott I’d like to see it and spread the word.

    The thing that slays me is a .50 Beowulf (with 7rd mag), and a fixed stock, is legal but a Ruger 10/22 is not.

    Especially since I’d bet there are millions of 10/22s in upstate NY and maybe 100 .50 Beowulfs.

    Heck, I think 10/22s come in John Deere green for your tractor so you can shoot the varmints eating your corn.
    Add in the other millions of Remington and Marlin .22s with tube mags and you have chaos.

    Those 3 .22s are the guns upstate NYers get their 12 year olds to shoot tin cans and varmints eating crops.

    I think you are giving Timothy Johnson too much credit. Rather than believing that he is intelligent enough and knowledgeable enough about firearms to willfully deceive his readers, I find it more likely that like most of his liberal ilk, he is so ignorant of firearms that he actually thinks that magazines are universally interchangeable with all pistols. After all, it usually works that way in video games!
