More Connecticut gun companies to move to the free states?

Written By: Bob - Apr• 29•13

Fox News seems to think that PTR was just the first manufacturer to flee Connecticut’s storied “gun valley,” and that the bigger gun companies will soon follow:

Arms manufacturers in at least two states with strict new gun laws are making good on their promise to move their operations — along with thousands of jobs and millions in tax revenues  — to locales they deem friendlier to the industry.

In Connecticut, where venerable gunmakers like Colt and Sturm, Ruger & Co. have been joined in the last decade or so by upstarts like Stag Arms and PTR, reform of gun laws in the wake of the Sandy Hook school shootings has left the industry feeling unwelcome. Bristol-based high-end rifle manufacturer PTR Industries announced this month via Facebook that it would be taking its 40 jobs and $50,000 weekly payroll to an unspecified new state, widely believed to be Texas.

AR-15 manufacturer Stag Arms could soon follow suit, along with Colt’s Manufacturing and Mossberg & Sons. The moves could cost the Nutmeg State 3,000 jobs as well as the estimated $1.75 billion in annual taxable revenues.

On a basic level, Democratic politicians in Connecticut are contributing to the failure of their manufacturing base, while cutting significantly into their tax base. This is going to hurt those who rely upon state assistance the most, including schools.
In short, Governor Malloy is cutting revenue that could help Connecticut schools, including those in Newtown.

Ideology and politics above all else, to the point of self destruction. These are the times in which we live.

    • Klingonwork says:

Ideology trumps common sense for the left every single time. Their fervor for their own self self-aggrandizement keeps them safely blinded against reality.

course. just look at detroit they will follow thier failed nihlist ideology straight into absolute destruction every time.

conn. could loose 40,000 jobs to gun companies leaving and they would smile and wave goodbye.

      • Klingonwork says:

rumcrook…wish I were on the last truck leaving Conn…as I sat in the lift waving goodbye singing…nah nah nah nah, hey hey, goodbye…

    Help the schools?

Help them…what?, indoctrinate their wards even more?

It’s all about control. Once the people are stripped of their weapons, they’ll be demoralized, dispirited.

    No longer “American.”

    • Sharpshooter says:

I hate to tell you, guy, but the vast majority of people are already dispirited.

When you can’t disarm your opponents (us “proles”) you destroy their will to fight back. That’s what the public schools have been doing for nearly a century.

I applaud these companies for moving. But to the leftists in charge of these states the moves won’t bother them at all. They are probably saying “good riddance” and will just compensate for lost tax revenues by raising taxes on someone else and deficit spend even more. That’s the sad truth.

Last week me and the wife obtained a sitter (grammy) for the afternoon, loaded up the blow boat and headed to Cedar Key for some redfish, mullet, and some riding time. We stopped to buy some shrimp for bait and so momma could get a snack and up pulls a couple of Connecticut Yankees sporting their state license plate on their prius. I looked at his tag which proudly proclaimed itself “the constitution state”, I looked at him and laughed. He sat there. Pathetic.

    • Right_2_Bear says:

Good news is the snowbirds will be leaving for their leftist lairs in a few weeks. BTW luv Cedar Key.

BTW I too applaud these companies standing up to the tyranny.

All gun, ammo, and accessory manufacturers. Leave these gun-unfriendly states that are trying to restrict 2nd Amendment rights NOW. Please DO NO FURTHER BUSINESS with said state, counties, and municipalities that seek, ultimately, to reduce your income through their extremely shortsighted behavior. Think long term. You will not be in business for long if this snowball keeps rolling downhill, picking up speed daily.
