The saddest truth in politics is that people get the leaders they deserve

To a terrorist, a cop is just a gun store

Written By: Bob - Apr• 24•13

We learned recently that the Tsarnaev brothers may have targeted MIT officer Sean Collier for assassination so that they could steal his guns.

I’ve got a post up at PJ Media about that. Go read it.

These incompetent terrorists failed to secure his duty pistol because they were too dumb to figure out his retention holster, but the NY Times claims that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found with a M4 carbine in the boat beside him when he was arrested, suggesting they might have obtained his patrol rifle.

Now, I find that to be a very suspect claim, as no other outlet supports this claim, and the still photos of their shootout with the Watertown PD shows them only (ineptly) using handguns at the point a rifle would have done them the most good.

But what does it mean if the New York Times was actually correct in their reporting for once?

If that is accurate, then the terrorists obtained a selective-fire rifle that hasn’t been manufactured for civilian purchase in 27 years since the Hughes Amendment to FOPA became law in 1986. Only police, the military, and a handful of collectors have legitimate M4s. Based purely on distribution, they almost had to have obtained their assault rifle (a real one) from the police.

What this tells us is that to determined criminals or terrorists, cops are just walking mini-marts for guns, ammunition, body armor, and radios. Obviously, if we want society to be safe from these threats, then police must be disarmed.

Or at least do as they did in Mayberry & to Barney; limit their ammo to one at a time!

    Death before slavery!

Back before the fall of the USSR, there was a story in the WSJ about the Russian mafia killing KGB officers for their sidearms. I bet all those pro gun control police organizations haven’t advised their membership of that unintended consequence…

If they couldn’t figure out a holster they probably couldn’t manage the brain power to turn off the safety on the M4.

That’s the second cop that was sneaked up on from behind and shot recently. I think the cops may need to get some training from Sen. Warren.

That aside, I think disarming the police entirely maybe a bit heavy handed. But certainly the cops should have their barrels lengthened to 16″ and be semi-auto only – for public safety purposes. If it only saves one life…

Given that the M4 only entered service in 1994, well post-Hughes, there is actually no such thing as a “civilian M4.”

So either it was procured in some illegal manner (and they don’t seem smart enough to get a black market one, so getting it from the dead MIT cop is the best bet), or we have another instance of sloppy reporting by gun-ignorant press, and he actually had a civilian M4gery.

In the infrared pictures I noticed he had a rifle, well I saw the strap but don’t know what kind of rifle it was.

Bad people will always get guns period.

No laws will stop all instances of any crime. Repeal all laws against crime.

        Typical jackass progressive misdirection.

We are not fooled: gun control laws are not meant to control crime, they are meant to control people. And since, by definition, criminals are not concerned with laws, they only apply to law-abiding citizens.

I assume that the M4 was stolen from the MIT cop. So what was a campus cop doing with that much firepower? This points to the fact that our government is totally out of control.

Sen. Feinstein & Co said that “assault weapons” were only designed for mass spray fire…..so why do civilian LEOs have them? After all, she is a US Senator and is clearly our better, not to mention the fact that she saw the body of a shooting victim once (Harvey Milk) thus making her an expert.

Also, don’t forget noted weapons expert VP Joe “all you need is a shotgun” Biden. If we were to follow his guidance PDs would issue double-barreled shotguns with instructions to fire off two blasts to solve most any criminal encounter…….right? I mean, he IS the VP.

Cops have long been source of weapons for criminals, but generally by stealing from their vehicles. IIRC, a number of unmarked vehicles from the Washington State Patrol were targeted a couple years back, resulting in the theft of several genuine M4 carbines, ammunition, and body armor.

One senior official from the Seattle PD had a pistol stolen from his official vehicle while parked in front of his house. (The SPD actually put up flyers in local gun stores, trying to find it!)

Shooting cops first, though, that’s a change in direction.

I predict shooting cops first to pick up their goodies will be the new hotness very soon.

As for stealing from cop cars, this happens everywhere and is regularly reported in the local media. Funny thing, though, there doesn’t seem to be any move afoot to change PD policy such that cops should bring their shit inside with them at night. If a citizen leaves a gun in his car, it’s negligence verging on the criminal. If a cop leaves a patrol rifle, body armor, NVGs, shotgun and a crap load of ammo and mags in his car parked in his driveway overnight, it’s apparently just the cost of doing business.

LMAO. they’re not the first to realize that fact that all cops are rolling guns stores with a blue light special 24/7.
