The saddest truth in politics is that people get the leaders they deserve

NY Times turns on Obama

The end is near?

The end is near?

The Great Unraveling accelerates:

he New York Times editorial board, which twice endorsed President Obama and has championed many planks of his agenda, on Thursday turned on the president over the government’s mass collection of phone data — saying the administration has “lost all credibility.”

The grey lady’s editorial section lately has shown frustration with the administration’s civil liberties record. It has criticized the escalation of the lethal drone program, and it lashed out after the Justice Department acknowledged seizing reporters’ phone records last month.

The report that the National Security Agency has been collecting phone records from millions of Verizon subscribers appeared to be the last straw.

An editorial published late Thursday said the administration was using the “same platitude” it uses in every case of overreach — that “terrorists are a real menace and you should just trust us.”

The editorial continued: “Those reassurances have never been persuasive — whether on secret warrants to scoop up a news agency’s phone records or secret orders to kill an American suspected of terrorism — especially coming from a president who once promised transparency and accountability. The administration has now lost all credibility.”

The editorial board claimed Obama “is proving the truism that the executive will use any power it is given and very likely abuse it.”

No sale. When the NYT calls for Obama’s impeachment I’ll call it “turning”.

Then we can all practice saying, “President Biden.”

  2. Neo says:

I’m sure that the Times editorial board will get over this by next week.

  3. louielouie says:

    nothing to see here.
    move along.

This doesn’t even TOUCH on PRISM… BTW, Just a quick “hello!” to all you hardworking NSA Employees out there. Keep in mind yer still outnumbered. Now that being said, you should hear the troops reaction this morning in the Messhall… Y’all been hearing about FOB Leatherneck and the cut in rats and such, well, I’m here to tell ya, LITERALLY LOL! Quite possibly the dumbest. administration. EV-VAR. The Marines here? I’d have to say that the ones I had breakfast with this morning have a full blown ‘case of the ass’ at the fact that all of their Skype calls, emails and everything else has been peeked in on via PRISM. And I thought the jarheads were pissed about the cut in services? Thats NOTHING compared to them now being paranoid that some NSA Geek is watching/peeking in on their Skype “Naked Time” Vid calls with the significant other… This is possibly the greatest mistake in the history of bad mistakes… As Bugs Bunny would say “Watta buncha maroons!”

  5. aaahh the nytimes, upset are they? so they played the role of the frog ferrying the scorpion across the river and they are surprised that the scorpion has followed its nature….

John Nolte at Breitbart had a great piece on how the US MSM did not break even one of the Obama scandals. It took the UK’s Guardian (of all papers) to break the blockbuster NSA/Verizon story for example. Point is the press knew about a lot of these goings on and sat on them to protect “their guy”. IMO one NYT editorial after the fact is not much evidence of turning on Obama. This is more likely a face saving tactic as they have now been exposed in an all-out effort covering tracks for Obama.

  7. John P. Squibob says:

And the NYT has already walked back their editorial.

Now it says: “The administration has now lost all credibility on this issue.”

Don’t worry, if the WH called the NYT to change it, I’m sure its recorded.

  8. Mt Top Patriot says:

The cure for this outrageous act of tyranny is to impeach the tyrant and try every apparatchik involved for treason.

The time has come. Not because of revenge or political expediency, but because the truth is it is imperative to the health of liberty and this republic.

The reality is that in a very short time if these crimes and violation of our liberty and rule of law are not dealt with forthwith, there will be no turning back.

It is those, who make peaceful lawful redress of wrongs against the people impossible, whom make violent revolution possible.

There exists not a tiniest shred in my mind these acts of tyranny have but one ultimate consequence, and this is the destruction of America and those Americans not afraid.

I usually feel the taste of vomit begin to rise in my throat whenever I mention the name of Rush “RINO cheerleader” Limbaugh, but I saw this comment of his posted on another website this morning:

“On his May 21 radio show, Rush Limbaugh said:

The country will not sit for the removal of the first black president. It isn’t gonna happen. It just isn’t gonna happen. If you’ve got hopes and dreams of impeachment and a conviction and sayonara, that’s not gonna happen.
The Republicans aren’t even gonna go near that.
They wouldn’t get close to going there.”

As much as it pains me to admit it, Limbaugh is probably right on this analysis. Unless and until the GOP cures themselves of their cowardice on the subject of race – and stop pooping their panties every time one of their enemies calls them a ‘racist’, then this nation will continue to slide down into the cesspool of non-white driven, third world corruption and criminality.

But *we’ll* never get credit for screaming about this over a year ago since we’re the nuts

  10. mytralmann says:

Even under Clinton, and so presumably before, the NSA was recording every phone conversation in the world and email too. This is just more of the same.
The NYT has not changed its feelings about Obama and never will. In fact by writing this editorial it has sent a message to its editor slaves in the press around the world to make this info collecting the story rather than the IRS or Benghazi, both issues, that if fully investigated, would actually damage their master. They are hardly unaware that Obama is a perpetual pathologic liar and that he has a hand in everything that occurs in the Executive branch, as the first spastically true version of their fraudulent editorial proves, but they cannot say it and so lose all that all important life line of privileged information that keeps their rotten ship afloat.
One has to assume now that virtually every message carried by photons is seen and understood, and act accordingly it you are worried about it.

  11. Scott B. says:

Too bad the NY Times has no credibility left to lose, “on this issue.”

Good thing they managed to stop those Chechen terrorists in Boston.
