FL Prosecutor indicted for falsifying arrest warrant against George Zimmerman

You don't get to wear jewelry in prison.

You don’t get to wear jewelry in prison.

And the absurd prosecution of Sanford, FL neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman becomes even more absurd, as we discover that the state’s politically-motivated prosecutor, Angela Corey, has just been indicted for falsifying the warrant:

Angela Corey, Florida’s state attorney and the prosecutor against Zimmerman, has been indicted by a citizens’ grand jury for allegedly falsifying an arrest warrant and the complaint that led to Zimmerman being charged with the second-degree murder of Trayvon Martin.

The indictment accuses Corey of allegedly withholding photographs of Zimmerman’s head after the incident. Also, Corey allegedly falsely signed an arrest warrant under oath without including the pictures as evidence. Critics claim that Corey rushed the arrest warrant through because activists were rallying around the Trayvon Martin shooting, demanding that Zimmerman be charged with murder. Critics argue that Corey was attempting to secure a reelection with the support of the activists.

Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz stated that Corey’s actions were unethical and illegal.

I’ve stated on multiple occasions that the prosecution team and witnesses face a better chance of prison that George Zimmerman does if the legal system works as it should. This is my first confirmation that the checks and balances in the justice system still work.

I’d note that this charge doesn’t even touch the allegation from prosecution team member Wesley White that the prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda withheld evidence from Trayvon Martin’s cell phone that would have been beneficial for the defense.

Update: This is a citizen’s grand jury. It’s a political train wreck, but not a criminal indictment by the state. Confused? Welcome to the club. Apparently, citizen’s grand juries are legal, but carry little weight. They’ve been used by Birthers and Truthers in recent years, which doesn’t help their credibility, as it paints them as conspiracy theorists.

I’d note that the claim against del la Rionda is not from the citizen’s grand jury, but from a state prosecution employee made formally through legal channels.

Hope that the skank enjoys her stay in prison.

But then again, she will probably just get a slap on the wrist.

the fix is in. so just now zimmerman’s school records and past are pertinent but trayvon’s, not so much. awesomsauce.

folks, god has left the building and it ain’t gonna be pretty when he returns.

This is exactly why our gov’t elite don’t get held accountable : when YOU (or your peers & buddies) decide if you or your peers & buddies should get indicted or go to jail …. it’s highly unlikely that anyone will go to jail.

Look at the Duke Lacross case – the prosecutor lost his law lisence and went to jail for ONE day.

We need an outside agency, wholly unbeholden to their fellow LEOs, Judges, and Politicians, who do nothing but prosecute those folk for their crimes.

    A) It’ll never happen.
    B) Their are many GOOD arguments against such an idea.
    C) It will be decried as being able to be abused for political reasons (true) but … here’s the thing and there’s no getting around this: The present system of self-investigation and prosecution aint freaking working. At all.

    Just my 2 cents.

Three reasons she doesn’t get a criminal charge: Donkey, Jackass and Democrat.

    They protect their own.

I honestly think it’s not a partisan thing – both parties do it. For Democrats it’s not only no punishable, but is a GOOD thing to go after people with a blatant double standard for race.

She’s a dim. So all is good.

  7. Comrade X says:

Alan Dershowitz says that Florida state prosecutor Angela Corey acted irresponsibly and illegally by withholding evidence from the courts when she filed her affidavit, and because of that he believes she should be investigated.

But that’s not all. He maintains that she’s done something far worse by raising expectations to an unsustainable level by charging for second degree murder, and that no reasonable jury will convict on the basis of this evidence. He suggests that if there are riots because of this, “the finger of responsibility will point directly at this prosecutor.”

  8. Denis Keohane says:

The story looks bogus. Can’t find a news service or paper with the story, only blogs passing it on. Should be true…but…

  10. bobby b says:

The “citizen’s grand jury” has been convened, out of pure hot air, by the infamous Larry Klayman, he of the “Clinton is the murderous anti-christ” cohort.

So, just a little disappointing in its powerlessness, but fun nonetheless.

  11. David Sims says:

As it was with Mike Nifong, so should it be with Angela Corey.

  12. Wanda says:

This trial should be over if she has done something like this..His lawyer needs to ask for an immediate dismissal..This is so wrong. She’s the one that should be in jail..

  13. Looks as though she’s set the stage for a mistrial , while still placating the mob . Wait until the verdict and / or dismissal , when / IF this ” technicality ” hits the fan , they WILL riot ! He’s already been found guilty in the ” court of public opinion ” ! People are already calling for sentencing when the trial isn’t over yet ! FAMOUS PEOPLE have stated / campaigned for ” JUSTICE ” ? . . . FOR Trayvon ! Does that mean we MUST deny it to George in order to give it to Treyvon ? Everyone wants to put COLOR at the front of this . When , if you ask me , ANY 2 MEN ( young or old ) have a confrontation / fight someone will get hurt ! George doesn’t want unidentified persons wandering the neighborhood late at night . And Trayvon wants to be able to walk to the store without being followed , anytime of day . I think the police should’ve been there faster ! I WASN’T THERE , SO , I DON’T KNOW , WHAT HAPPENED ! *** NONE OF THE PROTESTERS WERE THERE EITHER ! NOT EVEN THE CELEBRITY MOB LEADERS ! *** I’m just sayin’ ! BESIDES , haven’t WE seen yet , how JUSTICE has LITTLE to do with the LEGAL SYSTEM anymore ! Ask ANY prosecutor / PERSECUTOR !
